Postdoc position on Mn electrochemistry

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral researcher position in the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the Georgia Institute of Technology. The postdoc researcher will conduct research on the redox chemistry of manganese minerals using electrochemical approaches. The postdoc will have opportunities to participate in interdisciplinary research involving aspects of geoscience, chemistry, and materials science. There are also opportunities for participation in other research projects. Requirements and qualifications include:

  • PhD in mineralogy, chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or closely related fields.
  • Extensive experience with laboratory wet chemistry, synthesis, and synchrotron X-ray spectroscopy/scattering/microscopy techniques. Experience with X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) is highly favorable.
  • Familiarity with electrochemical techniques and analytical characterization techniques such as cyclic voltammetry, SEM-EDX, XRD, ICP-MS.
  • Familiarity with mineral-water interface reactions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

This position is immediately available and will remain open until filled. The initial appointment is for one year with possible renewal for another year upon mutual satisfaction and funding availability. Applications should be submitted at https://hr.gatech.edu/employment/careers, job opening 238381. Please also send the following materials in a single .pdf file to Dr. Yuanzhi Tang at yuanzhi.tang@eas.gatech.edu: 1) a cover letter that outlines the applicant’s research, expertise match to the position, and career goals; 2) curriculum vitae; 3) copies of representative recent research publications; and 4) contact information of three references.
